Pharmacological mechanism(s) involved in the vasorelaxant effect of N-butanol fraction of Loranthus ferrugineus methnolic extract in isolated rat aorta
Loranthus ferrugineus Roxb.,a hemiparasitic shrub,grows on dicotyledonous trees is traditionally used for the management of gastrointestinal disorders,fever and hypertension.In the present study,L.ferrugineus was evaluated for its vasorelaxing activity which may explain its use for lowering blood pressure.L.ferrugineus was serially extracted with petroleum ether,chloroform,ethyl acetate,methanol and water.It was found that the methanolic extracts(LFME)had the strongest activity and at concentrations of 0...
